The year is 2229 and Jack Peterson has terminal cancer. He's a dead man walking until his doctor gives him a way out. If he's willing to give up his entire life, he can travel for eight hundred years in stasis to planet Epigog 31 to receive treatment. With no other options available, he agrees.
Once there, he discovers that aliens exist and they are allies with humanity. But there's a catch to receiving treatment while his body heals, he must act as muscle for the aliens.

His conscious mind is uploaded into a mechanical battle unit and he is sent to train for warfare.
He will travel the galaxy, meet numerous aliens, and make friends along the way. But everything is not as it seems, and Jack's mech is far more unique than he realizes.

However, it is a long introduction. It does end, after a fashion, but everything is up in the air.

A lot of it, unfortunately, could be seen coming from a distance, just as I was sure it would not end up in a cliff hanger, but rather "stop"...and give the suggestion of buying the next book.

Look, I get it, writers write to make money. But I simply do not know that if you invest in the next book, the author will know how to finish it. Not end it...finish it, close the loops, solve the dramas, etc.

So, good characters and fair situations, but again, it would have been great to see how it ended.

Zero Mech Chronicles Book 1 eBook Adam Moon LS Burton Reviews

If you were dying of an incurable disease and someone approached you with an offer of a life saving procedure, would you take it? A deal with the unknown(devil?) - or the death that you know is coming? That is the jump off point for this novel - from then on it's a roller coaster ride as our hero, Zero, figures out exactly what was in the contract he signed - and what the ramifications are.
This showed up in a social feed, so I figured "why not?". At first, the couple-dozen pages at the beginning...I was starting to regret the purchase. The set-up was a bit of a stretch - even by space opera standards. However, moving into the book and living through the action and character development, I engaged and plowed through the story. Moon doesn't break code and provides a complete story within this launch of a new series. The end was satisfying and some fun twists-and-turns filled the pages. The style, length and content of the book could jump-start the imagination of a 12+ reader!
AM has written of robotic soldiers that came from Earth to A empire other side of the galaxy. The men and women are turned into Robots. The Robots are fighting machines. After two assignments the Robots discover that they have an opportunity to takes over the Alien Battleship. They do and the real war begins. This is an excellent read for the genre..... ER
Sorry but at 25 percent I just can't take anymore. Rarely do I give up once a book is started but in the case of this one I would rather set my hair a fire than read one more line. I can barely even recall the part I did read because it's so boring there was nothing worth the effort to remember. Yeah, it's t that bad.
Get cancer on Earth and the aliens will take you home n an 800 year trip to heal your body. In the mean time you must have your consciousness into a robot and become their military. Of course all is not what it seems, if it were there wouldn't be much of a book.

However, the 18 year old lead character is just one step from ignorant and while reading I kept thinking, really you don't know understand anything.
I found the story interesting, but a bit thin on technology. I'm an engineer and I like high tech, but didn't find the book to be particularly compelling. The character development was a bit thin too, I like well developed characters like you find in Anne McCaffery's novels. I couldn't find myself seeing things through the eyes of the main characters. Sorry, but it wasn't my type of novel.
This is the story of a young man who is dying from cancer who is given the opportunity to be healed by alien technology. In exchange, his mind will serve the alien benefactors (in a mechanical body) while his body is being healed. He finds out that he is not the only one who has been given this opportunity but things are not so very cut and dried. This is a great story that has the feel of iRobot. I like that it doesn't get bogged down with long battle descriptions or alien politics. I will definitely be reading the next book.
